Send Destination to a TomTom PND

Is there an API that can be used to send a destination from a smartphone to a TomTom device? The PND is connected to Internet and logged into the TomTom cloud. Technically using the TomTom companion App is already possible to send new destinations. However, I am curious to understand if a similar 3rd party companion app could be developed.
