Divide a route in smaller steps

Hi,
I want to ask if there is a method that can be used to divide the route in smaller steps (segments, spans or steps…) with informations like length and travel time.
I’ve partially done the job using the “instruction” parameter, but often the steps retrieved are too long.

Can you explain your use case?

So, my idea is to obtain a probable speed along small spans along the route, and take into account that to compute the medium fuel consumption of the car.
